Last day in Italy...

Boy oh boy, it’s been a few days, and I have been slacking on this blog. Oh well! I have been enjoying myself too much.

Today was our last day in Italy; we are underway on the Thello overnight train to Paris, France as I type this. Italy has been wonderful. Since I last posted, we moved on to a lovely town in the Italian countryside called Cortona for two nights, and then moved to Venice for another two.

Cortona was great, probably the best food we’ve had on the trip. It has a unique charm to it, full of medieval buildings and homes. We ate our best meal in a restaurant that was built in the 1300‘s. The town was made famous by the movie and book Under the Tuscan Sun, which is one of Sheena’s favorite movies

Venice was cool too. I finally impressed Sheena with my ability to romance her! However, towards the end of the Venice, we started to get a little bored. We had about eight hours to kill after we checked out of our hotel, and really didn’t have much left we wanted to see, nor did we have any activity planned.

Venice is also filled with all sorts of old buildings, churches, and of course canals; it is not quite as old as Cortona, however. Most of the buildings there are around three to four hundred years old. The food in Venice was just okay.

The photos from the first few days of our trip are up. You can find them here. We are having a great time so far. We went to the Vatican City yesterday. The buildings in this place are massive and very awe inspiring. They were very popular on the day we went. Everywhere we went it was packed!

Second day in Rome

Day two down, and still a lot to go.

Today, we went to the Colosseum, the Roman Forum (Palatino), Pantheon, and to Trevi Fountain. All were very impressive. I especially liked the Pantheon because of how well it’s preserved. We had some great food so far. Lunch was anti-pasta, pizza, and wine, and then had some gelato later for desert.

Sheena got a little upset because I thought some shoes were too expensive, but she quickly got over it like 3 hours later. We went to dinner, which unfortunately sucked! And then went to take a nice long nap. We were exhausted from all the walking! After our nap, we went back to see the Trevi fountain at night because we wanted to see how it looked all lit up.

First Day Abroad, in Rome

All in all, today was a good day... It was off to a rough start though. We arrived by plane around noon. The airport was a little hectic to get out of because they have no rhyme or reason to get on the shuttle buses. By the time we go to the city, we were a little jet-lagged, and had to walk around quite a bit with our luggage.

However, once we go to the hotel, and took a nap, all was good! We had an excellent meal, walked around a bit, and bought some delicious wine.

Tomorrow, we’ll be off to see all the ruins, like the Collesum and Pantheon, and on Monday, we’ll go to Vatican City.
